The headline pulled you in, didn’t it? It can be be tough to talk about your period, but hopefully with the help of chocolate I can make it less uncomfortable. I remembered as a tween I didn’t want anyone to know I was on my period, even though it was evident given my unpleasant demeanor and my insatiable appetite for chocolate. For years I was mortified to buy feminine hygiene products every month, and this continued through college. I was a cheerleader in college and I was on the swim team for a semester, both sports can be tough when you’re having your period. Bloat combined with bad eating habits before and while I was on my period caused many an ill-fitting uniform. As an adult, I’ve learned to make wiser dietary choices (most of the time) and I definitely don’t have any issues buying tampons. I want to help make your period easier by sharing two things I use to help make mine a little more bearable: Playtex® Sport® and Chia Seed Chocolate Yogurt. Generally my first sign that my period is coming is when a strong chocolate craving hits. Maybe my body is just tired and the caffeine boosts how I feel? Regardless, I want chocolate! It’s hard to not feel guilty about eating chocolate; Many chocolate dishes are loaded with empty calories. This Chia Seed Chocolate Yogurt is nearly guilt free because it combines vanilla greek yogurt, cocoa powder, and nutritious chia seeds. It helps to keep me #FitToPlay while I’m on my period.

Chia Seed Chocolate Yogurt

Ingredients
  • 1 single serving container vanilla greek yogurt
  • ½ tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • Optional sweetener
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

I manage to satisfy my period-related chocolate cravings with this Chia Seed Chocolate Yogurt, but what about my actual period? I rarely feel my physical best during my “time of the month.” Just laying around can make period symptoms worse, but it can be hard to stay active when you’re worried about the effectiveness of your feminine hygiene product. I’m not worried about leakage when I’m using Playtex® Sport®. I can move around freely no matter what the activity.
