Spring Has Sprung: Porches And Sweet Tea

Is it sad that my favorite part of my home only gets used about 6 months out of the year? We have a double front porch and I love to sit on the upper level. It’s a great place to enjoy a glass of  sweet tea, look out over the pond, and watch the cars go by. It’s also pretty messy this time of year. I went out there yesterday and the porch (and everything else on it) was covered with a green film of pollen. My relaxing haven became an allergy-ridden eyesore. I couldn’t sit out on my porch until I got that filth cleaned up. In today’s post I’m going to share a few tips for cleaning a dirty porch and my favorite recipe for Mint Sweet Tea with Lemon.

Mint Sweet Tea with Lemon

Do you want to see how messy my porch is? This time I can’t blame the dog. The nasty green film is pollen, and it’s everywhere. How could I relax and enjoy my tea in the middle of that mess? Even Bob refused to get out of the chair–he said it made his feet itch.

I did what every sane person would do, I got out my broom, mop, a bucket, and my Fabuloso®. I swept my porch and I proceeded to mop. I love how the Fabuloso® Multipurpose Cleaner Lavender smells and I love that I can also use it to wipe down my table and chairs. Most of my household suffers from some sort of allergy, so the pollen had to go. I have a table and chairs on the other side of the porch, and we enjoy eating dinner out there on a pretty afternoon. My porch gets a fresh smelling clean and I’m ready to entertain friends and family. Fabuloso® also had a limited edition Spring Bloom scent that I also picked up, and I enjoy its light floral scent.

A little elbow grease is definitely worth the view, don’t you think?

I’ve probably discussed my cleaning habits enough, so I want to share my favorite recipe for Mint Sweet Tea. This fabulous recipe is perfect for sipping, and it is my personal favorite.

Black tea and fresh mint leaves brewed together make this a refreshing drink for any occasion.
Ingredients
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 7-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • ⅓ cup sugar
Instructions
  1. Boil 3 quarts of water and mint leaves
  2. Dissolve sugar in boiling water
  3. Steep tea bags until desired strength
  4. Place lemon slices in pitcher prior to serving
  5. Serve over ice with additional lemon slices and mint leaves as desired

My favorite traditional Southern beverage was particularly tasty while I relaxed and enjoyed it after my cleaning was finished.

I love having fewer products cluttering my kitchen; that’s another reason I choose multipurpose cleaning products like Fabuloso®. Are you doing any spring cleaning? Make sure to check out Fabuloso® available at Walmart.

    What a great tea recipe.

That view from your porch just cannot be beat! Oh, how I daydream about a house with a spacious view, overlooking peaceful scenery.

It’s definitely quiet here. I haven’t quite adjusted to not having the conveniences of living near a major city, but otherwise I love it out here. We regularly fish on that pond, it’s the most relaxing activity here.

Q: do you use the large, family size tea bags for this recipe? Or the smaller ones???

Regular tea bags. The mint compensates for the black tea not being as strong as I normally brew it. Hope you enjoy it! It’s my favorite way to drink sweet tea, but I love mint.
