Starting Your Morning Off Right

I have a really bad habit of skipping breakfast; I often just drink coffee with milk or creamer and I’m starving by lunchtime. I found a perfect solution for the busiest of families; New Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt cups are “Crunchy, Cool, Yum”, and they help keep me from skipping breakfast.  You just add cold milk, and you have a delicious breakfast to help start your morning off right. I still pair my breakfast with coffee; today, I’m sharing a recipe for my vanilla bean creamer. It’s super simple to make and it complements any of the Quaker® Real Medleys® flavors.

What do you normally eat for breakfast? Are you a breakfast skipper too? Waiting until lunchtime to eat means I’m typically grumpy most of the morning. I’m always looking for quick, tasty alternatives for breakfast. With 25 grams of whole grains and 10 grams of protein (including the skim milk), they’re satisfying and delicious. Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups are very convenient, you just add cold skim milk, stir, and eat.

Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups are available in three flavors:

  • Apple Cinnamon
  • Raspberry Pecan
  • Strawberry Almond

I paired my Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups with morning coffee and my favorite homemade vanilla bean creamer. My Vanilla Bean Creamer Recipe is easily prepared in a pint jar and stored in the refrigerator for a few days. My recipe isn’t overwhelmingly sweet, but the addition of vanilla bean paste gives it wonderful vanilla flavor. You may prefer to adjust the amount of sugar to your own preference for sweetness. If you have several individuals in your household, you might want to double or triple this recipe. Jeremy drinks his coffee black, so I only need to make enough for me and the occasional guest.

Vanilla Bean Creamer

This homemade Vanilla Bean Creamer is great alternative to store bought creamer.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup half and half
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 4 teaspoons sugar (I prefer organic cane sugar)
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients into a pint jar or similar container.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Store sealed in the refrigerator.

The addition of vanilla bean paste gives you a speckled creamer. You can substitute regular vanilla extract, but the flavor won’t be quite the same. Vanilla bean paste has a distinct vanilla flavor, and it is a staple in my pantry.
