We have Skylanders characters and merchandise all over our house. Gabe has Skylanders card games, video games, figures, and clothing. When we were grocery shopping at our local Walmart, he spotted the new Kid Cuisine Limited Edition Skylanders themed meals in assorted varieties. He begged for all of them. We purchased several of them including Gabe’s favorite, Fun Nuggets. Gabe and I decided to whip up a Smashberry Yogurt Smoothie to pair with his dinner for a nutritious and fun meal, but pay attention to the yogurt expiration date so you won’t have an nasty surprise.
Gabe’s fascination with Skylanders is pretty intense. All of the coasters in our house have been gathered together on one end table, and he informed us last night that they were his Skylanders portals. If you’re going on an adventure in Skyland, a smoothie seems like a pretty good idea for the road, so we made sure one found its way to his own personal “portal” with dinner.
Here’s my recipe for a Smashberry Yogurt Smoothie, it’s named after one of Gabe’s favorite games, Skystone Smash.
- 4 strawberries
- 2 tablespoons Aussie-style yogurt
- ½ cup mixed berry frozen yogurt
- ½ cup milk
- 5-6 ice cubes
- Mix all ingredients in a blender
- Blend until smooth
- Serve immediately
Jeremy created his own smoothie concoction, which he refers to as “Evilized Mixed Berry Banana Madness.” As the name implies, he increases the amount of the sweet stuff in his version, particularly the frozen yogurt. You can experiment with the recipe, and its name, to match your taste and your favorite fun Skyland characters and elements. Jeremy really enjoyed the taste of the Aussie-style yogurt, so he increased it to 4 Tablespoons, added 2/3 of a banana, a little more than 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt (or so he says), 1/2 cup of milk, and and a few ice cubes. His version is not available for your viewing pleasure because it disappeared too quickly for me to catch on film!
If your household is anything like ours, you’re always on the run at full speed. That often leads to poor meal choices. We try to eat healthy, even on our busiest days. I like that Kid Cuisine uses wholesome ingredients in their meals like 100% natural chicken breast, whole fish fillets, real cheese, and whole grains. Gabe is most fond of the Fun nuggets. He gets a healthy meal, and I get to rest easy knowing that it’s made from 100% Natural chicken Breast with NO preservatives. If you ask Gabe what his favorite side dish is, he probably wouldn’t say macaroni and cheese, but that’s only because he’d rather make a full meal out of it by itself. Kid Cuisine Mac ‘n Cheese is made with real cheese and has NO preservatives. Every little boy’s favorite part of the meal is the fun that goes along with it. There is a FREE Skylanders Battlecast card inside Kid Cuisine packages at Walmart.
Kid Cuisine Limited Edition Skylanders meals are a great way to combine kids’ love of Skylanders with super-fun dinner options. I always find it easy and convenient to grab a few meals on my regular trips to Walmart. Now, I’d like to help you WIN the battle for mealtime FUN!
