This post was sponsored by UP Faith & Family Network, however all opinions are entirely my own.
I spent a lot of time at my great grandmother’s house growing up and she was very strict about what we watched on television. She was a teacher before she retired, and she believed that children often mimicked what they saw and heard. One show that we weren’t allowed to watch was a very popular comedic 90’s show about a group of high schoolers. She didn’t think teenagers should be shown kissing on television, so it was forever banned in her house. Can you guess what show that was? If an episode of the Golden Girls got too racy, the television was turned off. I think her television watching habits made a long-term impression on me. I’ve never been big on watching anything terribly lude, vulgar or violent. I bet you’re thinking that I must not watch much on cable television? And you’re correct in that assumption. When I was old enough to realize that my son was old enough to listen and repeat anything that he heard, I became much more vigilant about what we watched. Discovering the UP Faith & Family Service available through Amazon with an added monthly subscription was refreshing. Today I’ll be sharing some of my family’s favorite shows from the UP Faith & Family Service and a giveaway for two Amazon Prime subscriptions (or a gift card worth $100 if the winner already has an Amazon Prime subscription).
This week has been exceptionally trying for both my faith and my family. My 18 year old cousin unexpectedly lost her battle with cancer. Her middle name was Faith, and she exhibited more faith and courage than anyone I’ve ever known. She was diagnosed at 15 and never questioned God’s plan for her. Instead of spending her precious last years on this earth living for herself, Reagan tried to help others. She created a toy drive for underpriveledged children, donated money raised in her honor to other families at the Children’s Hospital, and raised donations for a pediatric cancer program. As sad as her story is, I hope it is also uplifting. She reminds me that there are truly beautiful and wonderful things happening in this world.
What does her story have to do with television shows? I believe we should hear more inspirational stories about faith and family; they can inspire us and help us grow. UP Faith & Family service
has a complete line-up of family friendly movies and programs that align with my faith and values.
My favorite show on UP Faith & Family is Bringing Up Bates. Have you heard about the Bates family in Tennessee? They have 19 children (yes, 19 biological children). I am the oldest of four children, and I thought we had a big family. I love watching the enduring family dynamics of the Bates family. It makes me wish for more children.
You can watch other great shows like Heartland seasons 1 through season 8, and the hilarious Jeff Foxworthy host the American Bible Challenge. Any room can be your family room when you use a digital device to stream UP Faith & Family. We can watch it while we’re traveling or waiting on a game to start. We have the Amazon Video app installed on our tablet, which helps prevent me from having to constantly monitor what my son is watching. I know that all the shows available on UP Faith & Family are appropriate for young audiences, unlike most of what he stumbles upon on YouTube. The monthly subscription for UP Faith & Family is only $4.99 when you already have an Amazon Prime membership. A cup of coffee shop coffee would almost cost as much as a month’s subscription to UP Faith & Family. It’s a library of over 400 faith and family friendly movies and shows to stream.
Do you have an Amazon Prime membership? If you don’t, would you like to win one? If you do, would you like to win a $100 gift card instead? UP Faith & Family is sponsoring a giveaway for two lucky readers. You can find out more and enter using the widget below.
