Since switching to Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan, we have at least one family movie night each month. My phone plan includes one free VUDU $7 movie credit each month (which is the price of a new release movie) along with unlimited* talk, text and data which (*includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE† data then 2G) for $49.88 per month per line. It’s fun to curl up with my family and watch a good movie, and even better when the movie rental is free. I like to make as much of our meal/snacks ahead of time, so that I’m not fussing with cooking when I could be relaxing. I’ve found that food items such as a Nacho or Popcorn bar, make the night go smoother. Everyone can eat or snack at their leisure, and I don’t have a 7 year old whining, “Mommy I’m hungry.,” during the movie. Here are a few tips and tricks for setting up an easy Nacho Bar For family movie night.
If you’re looking for great way to utilize your tax refund this season, switching to Walmart Family Mobile has several perks. Just pick a phone or bring your own, and get your SIM Kit for only $19.88. The Samsung Galaxy On5 pictured above retails for $119, but it’s currently on rollback for $69. If I spend less money on on a monthly phone bill, I have more money to spend on fun things like getting supplies for family movie nights or outings. Using your tax refund on purchasing a phone, also means that you’re not paying an added monthly charge for a phone. You could put away your tax refund to pay for your Walmart Family Mobile bill.
My son loves nachos and popcorn (just not together); that’s his typical order at the movie theater or ball park. Nachos don’t have to be a plain treat, you can easily dress them up with lots of toppings. I’ve seen pulled pork nachos layered with baked beans and coleslaw, but I prefer both of those on the side.
Here are a few shots of our Family Movie Night Pulled Pork Nacho Bar Set Up:
Here’s a list of what’s actually on my Pulled Pork Nacho Bar:
- Tortilla Chips
- Pulled Pork (I used a honey bbq version)
- Baked beans
- Cole slaw
- Cheese dip (we prefer white queso)
- Pico de gallo
- Shredded cheese
- Onion straws
- Sour cream
- BBQ Ranch Salad
Here’s a list of the sweets that I included:
- Miniature cupcakes
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Puppy chow chocolate covered popcorn
The plate pictured above is mine. I enjoy layering my nachos with pulled pork, and then topping it with queso, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, onion straws, and cheese.
Here’s my son’s plate and he was ready to dig in:
You can spread all of your nacho bar items out on a countertop or kitchen table, so that it’s within easy reach of everyone. If you want to keep your pulled pork warm, you could use a slow cooker or other warming device.
I used my Samsung Galaxy On5 to browse available movies on VUDU.
I also mixed up this Puppy Chow chocolate covered popcorn, which was my son’s favorite sweet snack of the night.
