Tips For Planning Maternity Photographs

This post may contain affiliate links, however all opinions are entirely my own.

I only have a handful of photographs where I’m pregnant with my son. I was so self-conscious about how I looked and felt at the time, that I hated even looking in the mirror. I appeared swollen and it never occurred to me that I would regret not having any photos. I promised myself that no matter how swollen I looked or how much weight that I gained, that I would take some maternity photos during this pregnancy. I’m sharing some of the mistakes I made planning my maternity photos and a few tips for planning your maternity photographs.

Surprise: Sibling Gender Reveal Photoshoot

Did you have an elaborate gender reveal during your pregnancy? Or did you opt for a gender reveal party? When I found out the gender of my son, we just called close friends and family; we shared the news on Facebook with everyone else. I had planned on doing a gender reveal photoshoot nearly two months ago when we found out, but a host of things prevented that. I really wanted to do something that involved our son. He had asked for a sibling for a long time before I got pregnant, and he has had his own gender predictions. Here’s a glimpse of the sibling gender reveal photoshoot. Maybe it will give you a few ideas for your own gender reveal and you can find out what we’re having.

How To Make The Most Of A Port Day In Livorno, Italy

When a cruise ship docks in the port of Livorno, Italy you have a few options for shore excursion itineraries. I really wanted to visit Cinque Terra, Tuscany, Florence, and Pisa but if you only have a few hours in port, you can’t do it all. We ultimately decided that we had to prioritize Florence and Pisa on this trip, and hope that we could eventually make it back for the other two, #SoManyPlacesSoLittleTime. Viator is a great resource for finding shore excursions at any port, and they had several options for private and semi-private shore excursions from the port of Livorno. Our tour was a semi-private tour booked through Viator for the highlights of Florence and Pisa. Here’s some advice for planning a shore excursion in Livorno, and a photo journal of our afternoon in Florence with a few tips for making the most of our visit. Please note that this post has a lot of images and a gallery, so it might take a moment to fully load.

12 Photos From 12 Days On A 12 Day Grand Mediterranean Cruise

If you’re a regular reader, you might have noticed my blog was unusually quiet for the last few weeks; Jeremy and I finally went on our honeymoon. We got married in early May, but we hadn’t been able to make time in our busy schedules to go anywhere. He ultimately booked a 12 day Grand Mediterranean Cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line ship, the Spirit. We had the trip of a lifetime. The cruise itinerary was amazing, and we managed to visit 6 countries and 21 cities in just 12 days. I plan on sharing a more in-depth reviews of the cruise, ship, ports, and itinerary, but I thought it would be fun to first share 12 photos from 12 days on the NCL Spirit and the ports we visited. I don’t consider all of these photos my best, I chose them because I feel that they sum up our trip. I hope you enjoy the photos and if you have any questions about our trip, please feel free to leave a comment or send me an email.

Spring Honey Harvest: Pictorial

Currently, Hall Farms is home to three honeybee hives; two that Jeremy purchased and one that an exterminator asked him to retrieve. Jeremy loves his bees. I love the honey they produce, but I’m allergic to bees. I’ve been taught that unless I bother them, they won’t bother me. I try to keep my distance as much as possible. A week or so ago, I ventured a little closer to photograph Jeremy pulling frames from one of the hives. I created this Spring Honey Harvest Pictorial to allow readers to get a closer look at small scale spring honey harvest.

Tips For Styling Kids For Holiday Cards

“I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation for this post. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.”

I love receiving Holiday Cards with sharply-dressed children and families; they’re one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. It’s equally fun for me to style Gabe up for our holiday cards, photograph him, and mail them to our friends and family. Do you find it tough to style your family for holiday cards? It can be challenging to coordinate outfits, but OshKosh B’gosh makes it easy to coordinate with a wide variety of sizes from newborn through size 12. Here are some of my favorite tips for creating a little holiday style for kids, and photographing your own holiday card. I’ve also included a list of questions that you should ask your children during the holiday season; it’s fun to record them while they’re dressed up and observe how their answers change from year to year.

Blessing of the Hounds With The Woodford Hounds

On Saturday, November 21, Jeremy, Gabe, and I had the pleasure of attending the Blessing of the Hounds with the Woodford Hounds at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill (wow, that was a mouth full). The Blessing of the Hounds is a centuries-old tradition that was believed to have begun by the now Patron Saint of Hunters, St. Hubert. The Blessing is a tradition among many hunt clubs, and there are several held throughout Kentucky, typically during the month of November near the date of the Feast of Saint Hubert.
