DIY Oil Change With Pennzoil Platinum

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DIYOilChange #CollectiveBias

When I was living in the city, I regularly used one of the speedy oil change services; now that I’m living out in the country, I no longer have that luxury. I would have to take my car to a local service station and drop it off. I don’t have the time or patience for that, and I certainly don’t like spending the extra money. It’s easier to just purchase the supplies and to change it ourselves here on the farm. I can purchase the Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic motor oil 5W-30 (which is appropriate for my car) and the correct replacement oil filter while I’m shopping for other things at our local Walmart. It takes less than 30 minutes to change it here, when it takes nearly 30 minutes just to drive into town and back. Today I’m sharing how to perform a DIY oil change.

Bacon, Broccoli, and Cheese Casserole & Barber Foods Cordon Bleu

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SimplySpecialMeals #CollectiveBias

If you frequent my blog much, you’ll notice that I’m a huge fan of semi-homemade meals. We’re a busy family and I like to be able to cook a nice meal and have it on the table in thirty minutes. I also get bored with the same recipes, and sometimes it’s fun to mix it up. Today I’m sharing a simply special meal that can go from freezer to dining room table in about 35 minutes. I’m preparing a slightly different Bacon, Broccoli, and Cheese Casserole that I pair with Barber Foods Cordon Bleu and fresh steamed veggies for a tasty family meal. The casserole uses cheddar cheese soup, bread crumbs, bacon, fried onion straws, a splash of milk, an egg, cheddar cheese, and of course, broccoli.

Airing Out Our Dirty Laundry

We have so much dirty laundry; I’m not sure how three people could dirty so much laundry. I average a load of towels a day, and about 9 loads of assorted clothes per week. I can’t keep up with daily laundry, so I’ve been known to do several loads over the course of a few hours and pile them onto my folding table. I normally buy the economy size detergent and watch it quickly disappear. I was happy to discover a new laundry detergent (at least new to me), method laundry detergent doesn’t disappear as quickly as the rest.

Traveling Lighter With My Acer Iconia 8

It’s expensive to fly, and it’s more expensive to check luggage. In recent years, I try to just pack in my carry-on if at all possible. It isn’t easy and I sometimes have to make difficult decisions about what to take. The last two trips I had to forego taking my beloved DSLR because I took my MacBook, and I just didn’t have room. I’m a bit of a photo geek, so it is really tough to settle for taking pictures that are less than perfect. My iPhone takes good photos, but they aren’t great for a photographer who is picky about her work. I can trim my clothes and makeup down, but with electronics you either take something or you don’t. I was offered the chance to try the Acer Iconia 8 and I never imagined it could replace my laptop when traveling, but could it?

Tips To Help You Embrace Your Curly Hair

As long as I can remember, I’ve hated my curly hair. I’ve been called “Medusa”, and I was regularly asked, “Did a rat make a nest in my hair the night before?” I was the only curly-haired curl in my immediate family, and no one really knew how to tame my tresses. Honestly, if a product like the Dyson Airwrap had existed when I was a kid, my childhood may have been a lot easier. When I was younger my mom would try to tame my hair by braiding it after I washed it, and it was terribly uncomfortable to go to bed with damp, braided hair. Straightening irons weren’t readily available until my latter years of college, so my freshman year of high school I cut my hair off out of frustration. I kept it short for many years. Today I’m sharing some tips with the help of Dove, to help keep your curly hair looking its best and to help you #LoveYourCurls.

Americana Appeal With Pier 1 Imports Outdoor Living

This post is sponsored by Pier 1 Imports.

When Jeremy and I moved into our new antebellum style home last fall, we didn’t have nearly enough furniture to fill it. He spent the majority of his expendable cash trying to finish up the house, which went seriously over budget. I have been buying pieces when I get extra money, but I’ve also been trying to save money for our wedding, which is just a few months away. Our double front porch was the first thing that visitors and passersby noticed about our home, and it has a scenic view of the barn and pond. We do our best to keep our porch looking nice and clean by getting a company that does pressure washing houston to clean it. Unfortunately patio furniture was on the bottom of my purchase list; it just wasn’t in my budget. I had a set of four canary yellow Adirondack style chairs that I placed on the front porch for seating until I could save up for patio furniture. They were distinctly visible from the road. Shortly after Jeremy and I moved in, he brought his grandmother over to the house. When we were pulling up the driveway, she commented, “The house is lovely, but I’m not sure about those yellow chairs.” I decided that day that those chairs really needed to go.

A Birds Eye® View Of Flavor

Living on a farm has made me a vegetable “snob.” There isn’t anything quite like picking something fresh from our garden, and creating a meal around it. I understand that not everyone has that luxury, and there are times of the year that you can’t get fresh produce even if you do live on a farm. There are certain crops we can’t grow at all. When, for whatever reason, we don’t have fresh vegetables available I trust Birds Eye® products.
