The aroma of fresh banana bread makes me happy because it reminds me of time well spent with her. Today, I’m sharing my favorite recipe for Banana Bread, and a way to keep your home filled with your favorite fragrances with the help of American Home™ by Yankee Candle®.
The recipe I’m sharing today is a modified version of the recipe my great grandmother used that I modified to my own preference. You can trade out the variety of nuts used; she preferred walnuts, but I like pecans. I’ve heard from others that they used chopped cashews for a fun twist.
- 3 very ripe bananas smashed
- 1 egg
- 1½ cups self-rising flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil or butter
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ¼ cup pecans
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Mash bananas
- Mix in all the wet ingredients until well incorporated
- Add in dry ingredients and mix well
- Pour batter in a greased loaf pan
- Check bread at 45 mins, baking times can vary.
