Last night my husband and I broke our household rule about taking our son to the movies on a school night; we wanted to see the new live action Beauty and the Beast film just released by Disney. We arrived at the movie theater an hour early to make sure we could purchase tickets and waited (im)patiently for 45 minutes for the movie to start. Half the movie I could hear my husband either singing or humming along to the famous score from a seat away, and it was hard not to sing along too. The storyline is nearly identical to the original Disney animated classic with several of your favorite actors and actresses filling roles throughout the film. I was 10 years old when the Disney animated Beauty and the Beast was released. We watched it at the movie theater and my mom purchased the VHS tape, and we watched it over and over. I still have the soundtrack memorized and it’s hard not to sing along when I hear the score. We sang various songs from the soundtrack in my high school chamber choir and if I remember correctly we played Beauty and the Beast in band. The soundtrack in the live action version of Beauty and the Beast will not disappoint. My son who just turned 7 years old was singing parts of the soundtrack on the way to school this morning.
