The Proper Peony Dresses: Finding Favorites

The Proper Peony

My introduction to the brand The Proper Peony came through Instagram. I swear Instagram is my source for finding pretty much everything nowadays! I must say that I find it much easier to navigate through accounts when they use a clickable link in bio service though. I’ve noticed though that a lot of businesses are making things a lot easier to find on their Instagram accounts. Which if you ask me, is what all businesses should do. If you make it hard for potential clients to find your business on social media, then the likelihood of them turning elsewhere is very high. If you can be searched for quickly and have engaging content, it could make it a lot easier for you to grow your instagram followers at a faster rate, as well as being able to reach more people. But that’s not all you can do. For example, I also noticed that you can directly message people on Instagram now from your own computer using igdm, which makes things a lot easier, particularly when I want to ask someone a question. A long time friend had her daughter dressed in the sweetest little dress and I decided that Little Miss needed one too. There was one problem, I couldn’t find it. The Proper Peony is a small but very popular brand. The dresses are hand embroidered and that limits production numbers. Many boutiques only get one size each in each style (if that), and they occasionally have waiting lists for dresses. I eventually located the dress in a The Proper Peony Buy/Sell/Trade group and I paid more than retail. Now we’ve acquired more than 10 The Proper Peony Dresses in an assortment of sizes (not all sizes are available in all styles), I thought I would share a few tips for locating your favorite The Proper Peony Dress. Just a little FYI, this isn’t a sponsored post; I’m just a The Proper Peony enthusiast.

Orvis Women's Spring Fashion line

I received complimentary product from Orvis for this review.

I try to maintain a wardrobe that has a small mix of seasonally trendy items, and the rest of my pieces are timeless staples that look great season after season. It’s always better to have a wardrobe like that. People don’t need a new outfit every time they go out, so it’s important that our clothes are trendy and that they can be worn in a number of different ways. Shopping for pieces of clothing like that can be difficult, but there are websites, like fillyflair.com, that seem to have a range of pieces that could be worn a number of times. Online shopping is also a lot easier these days, you can get the clothes delivered right to your door. Make sure to find some versatile pieces for your wardrobe, it will give you more outfits if you can style some pieces in different ways. Additionally, I’m also a big fan of Orvis. Many of the items from Orvis Women’s Spring Clothing line will never go out of style. There is an added bonus to buying Orvis clothing: it can withstand several seasons of wear. Here are two of my favorite pieces from the Orvis Women’s Spring line, and I’m sharing a high value Orvis coupon code at the end of this post.

spring break packing tips
This post is sponsored by OshKosh B’Gosh for the Everywhere Society; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. #OshKoshKids #BreakForSpring”
Can you believe spring is finally just around the corner? We had an incredibly short and harsh winter in Kentucky. It was 75 on Christmas and then the temperature plummeted. We were blanketed with snow for nearly 6 weeks straight, which is rough when you live in southern Kentucky. I’m not fond of snow, and I like it even less since I fell and broke my hand when walking on snow and ice. It nearly ruined Gabe’s birthday party, too. School was canceled for a week and half before his party, and I struggled to get invites to classmates. Jeremy’s dad had to take a tractor to the driveway to remove the snow so people could park. Snow is good for a day of sledding, and that’s about it. Speaking of tractors, we are thinking of purchasing an upgrade soon. One of our friends who is a farmer recently purchased a new tractor from the Fastline website. They have an amazing selection of tractor makes and models and a huge variety of other farming equipment too. Anyway, I believe saying that we’re ready for spring break is an understatement. The real question should be, “Spring break, are you ready for us?” Who’s ready to #BreakForSpring?
Today, I’m sharing a $50 Spring Shopping Challenge and I’m giving away a $50 OshKosh B’Gosh gift card to help with your own $50 Spring Shopping Challenge. You’ll need to scroll all the way to the bottom to find out how to enter for your chance to win. This year I challenged myself to spend only $50 to purchase Gabe a few new outfits for spring break. You can browse through the looks I created using only $50, and maybe you can get a few ideas for spring looks. The Longest Ride Partners with Ariat

April 4, 2015

Call me a country girl, but I love a good cowboy flick; when you combine this with a Nicholas Sparks novel, I have a reason to get excited. On April 10, The Longest Ride will hit theaters. The storyline involves two couples who were born decades apart, but who both had to figure out if their love was worth the sacrifice they would have to endure.

December 29, 2014

Some estimates suggest that nearly 40% of Americans make at least one New Year’s resolution; most of those resolutions are for self-improvement. What if you could make a resolution that would not only improve your life but also improve the lives of those around you, and possibly impact someone halfway around the world? Have you considered pledging to perform 100 “good deeds” in 2015 or purchasing a 100 Good Deeds bracelet? Wear a 100 Good Deeds bracelet as a reminder to keep your resolution to perform 100 good deeds in 2015.

Boots & Shorts: Country Outfitter

asouthernmother
August 1, 2014
Boots are typically a part of every woman’s wardrobe. Despite humid southern weather, they are a year round staple in my wardrobe. I will pair them with dresses, skirts, pants, leggings and even shorts. They are stylish, and often functional since I live on a farm. My closet is full of riding boots, rain boots, cowboy boots, and even the not so
functional bootie.

Shoes are like jewelry; they can make or break an outfit. They can spice up even the most casual attire. So that’s why so many of us are always striving to find the best shoes that can complement every outfit we wear. Even if it means that we go one step further to try and find a range of Ara shoes and boots online because our other suggestions just aren’t hitting the mark, then that is what we should do. The good thing about shoes is that our options are limitless.

A good boot has the ability to accentuate your legs, and make your look taller and leaner. I always stand a little taller when I am wearing one of my favorite pairs of boots.

I have a “no holds barred” approach to boots. I will wear them out on a date, a night with my girls, while working on the farm, and even to church on Sunday. Boots are fun and versatile.
When I was a young girl my mother had a pair of black suede boots with fringes, I would cringe when she wore them. I was such a silly little girl; my Mom loved those boots, and she was comfortable in them. Who was I to judge her sense of style?

I now attribute my love of boots to her.

I’m a tall girl, so it is easier for me to pull off a tall boot. This Ariat Legend boot purchased from Country Outfitter ends mid-calf. You need to match your boot shaft height to your leg length and calf width. I always read the product description for measurements because photographs can be deceiving. A boot that is too tall or too short can actually make your legs appear shorter.

And don’t forget toe shape! The toe of your boot is equally important. Toe shapes include pointed, square, and round. Pointed toe boots can elongate your legs.

If you wear boots with shorts, you should select a boot and heel height that is flattering to the length of your shorts. The top of your boots shouldn’t be too close to the hem of your shorts (unless you are a stylish toddler wearing your favorite pair of John Deere boots).
These are just tips; you should choose whatever boot you feel comfortable in and will fit your sense of style.

Are boots in your wardrobe? Do you consider them seasonal wear or do you rock your boots year round?
