Where did our summer go? On Wednesday my son started Kindergarten; he didn’t shed any tears but this momma was a little broken hearted. We spent the last few weeks talking about school in preparation and even doing a little back to school shopping. We always head to OshKosh B’Gosh, but this school season they’ve given you even more reason to shop with the B’Gosh Jeanius campaign.

My stepfather Darrell started purchasing die-cast toy cars for my son a few years ago. Gabe has a growing collection, including a few branded Disney Pixar Cars. Those cars are some of his absolute favorites; he associates the cars with the characters from one of his favorite movies, Disney Pixar Cars. Today, I’m sharing a tutorial for a DIY Toy Car Garage that can be personalized; it was inspired by my son’s love of Disney Pixar Cars and the new Cars Daredevil Garage app. You can take your child’s love of Cars almost anywhere with this portable garage or the fun new app.

Back to school preparations can get expensive. You often need to purchase new school clothes, school supplies, items to pack in lunches, and breakfast items that can be prepared quickly. It can be equally expensive for teachers, who are often responsible for replenishing supplies or other items for their classrooms. What if you could earn free books for your child or your school just by purchasing items that you would likely purchase anyhow? You can with a new Kellogg’s program. Specially marked boxes of Kellogg’s products have codes which can be redeemed for free books (print or ebooks) that can be sent to you or donated to the school of your choice. Today, I’m sharing about the program and I’m including a free printable to let your child’s teacher know that you donated a book to their classroom.

July 4, 2015

Did you know that it took nearly 7 months for the last child displaced from Hurricane Katrina to be reunited with her parents? There were 5,000 missing children reports filled following Katrina. These are just a few of the staggering statistics shared by Save the Children to help raise awareness about the Get Ready. Get Safe. campaign. Have you ever considered what your child would do if a disaster hit where you live? Do they know how to contact other relatives? Would they be able to tell emergency personnel where they live and tell them your name? Save the Children wants to help you and your child be prepared in the event of an emergency or disaster.

When I started dating after Gabe’s father and I split, I realized that I wasn’t just dating to find a husband but I needed to be with someone who would be a good father figure for Gabe. I knew it might be tough to find someone who I thought would be good enough to help raise the most important person in my life.

My five year old has been on summer break for nearly 3 weeks already, and we’re already running out of things to watch; It has been usually rainy in Kentucky and the weather has kept us inside. I was excited to get an email about the new YouTube Channels for DCKids and Warner Bros’ Kids. Whirly’s World Game Night

I’ve mentioned dozens of times that we love family game nights in our house. I can remember playing multiple tabletop games as a child with my brother Brandon and my parents. I think it’s such a lovely way to be able to bond as a family and I can’t wait until Gabe is older so we can start playing some of the more complicated games out there.

Well, You may have missed it, but a few days ago, I posted about SimplyFun brand games; it wasn’t until then that I discovered their line of educational board games. I was fortunate enough to receive a free copy of the Whirly’s World game, and I was eager to play it with Gabe. SimplyFun games were created to incorporate learning experiences into game play. Gabe and I have played Whirly’s World close to a dozen times in just over a week, and we’re still loving it.
