Vera Wang Embrace Marigold and Gardenia

Perfume shopping can be tough for me. I’m picky about fragrances and many heavy scents can give me a headache. When I find a fragrance that I like and that I can comfortably wear, I generally stick with it. I was very excited to learn that I was getting an opportunity to review the new Vera Wang fragrance, Vera Wang Embrace Marigold and Gardenia available at Kohl’s.  I was even more pleased when I discovered that I love it, and it quickly became my go-to daily fragrance. You can read more about why I love Vera Wang Embrace Marigold and Gardenia fragrance and learn more about how you can enter to win a bottle of your own.

How Often Do You Think About Your Eyes?

“This post was sponsored by Think About Your Eyes as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received compensation as a thank you for my review.”

I can count the times I have been to an optometrist my entire lifetime on one hand, which is a terrible omission. I think I had an eye exam to enter school and my next one wasn’t until I was enlisting in the Navy at 17. I know that as a child, pediatric eye care is really important, but I’ve had good eyesight most of my life, in stark contrast to my sister and mother who have always had bad vision. After my son was born, I started to notice that I had trouble seeing at night and I had headaches more frequently than ever before. I thought it might have been because I wasn’t using the appropriate blue light glasses similar to those offered by Felix Gray for computer screens but I knew it required further investigation regardless. I told my primary care physician, who said I was way overdue for an eye exam and sent me to an optometrist. She said I had developed an astigmatism in one eye, and she thought that was causing my vision issues and headache. She wrote a prescription for glasses and I slowly noticed that my symptoms diminished when I regularly wore my glasses. How often do you think about your eyes? It never crossed my mind that my issues were vision related. I assumed that since I didn’t need glasses the first 30 years of my life, that I should be fine until my vision diminished with age. Think About Your Eyes is a public awareness campaign, aimed at encouraging everyone to get an annual comprehensive eye exam. When was the last time you visited your optometrist?

Yesterday was the first official day of spring, but that didn’t stop me from wearing shorts while playing outside with my son and dog last week. Southern Kentucky has had some beautiful weather over the last week or so, and it’s finally time to start switching out my wardrobe. It’s also time for me to start seriously prepping my skin for a wedding. Whilst I had considered the kollectionk products, I have a routine I like already set. If you haven’t stopped by my site previously, you might not know that I’m getting married in just a few short weeks. I have a strapless gown, and I’m hoping that my skin tone doesn’t too closely resemble my dress. I won’t be out in the sun without sunscreen. Here are some of my best tips for how to get an even golden glow without sun tanning from a self-proclaimed sunless tanning pro.

Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions? I made a few this year, and most of them involved my health. I had a major health scare earlier in the year that I haven’t spoken about much; I had a breast biopsy. My mother and aunt both have had breast cancer; my mom was just a few years older than I am now when she was initially diagnosed. I have to go yearly for a mammogram, and this year a cluster of micro-calcifications had grown larger. I was thankful that I didn’t have cancer, or at least not yet; I’m considered high risk due to my family history, breast density, and micro-calcifications. I’ll go back in the early spring to have some follow up testing. I’m taking a hard look at my overall health, and trying to take steps to improve it. I’ve created a printable Health & Wellness Journal that I’m sharing that makes it easier to track daily, weekly, and monthly health and wellness goals.

Managing Vitamin D Deficiency

vitamin d

“This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.”

Last spring I went to the the doctor for a check up; I had been unusually tired and my bones hurt. I just didn’t feel like myself. The doctor ordered a host of lab work, and I received a call the following morning that I had a critical value result. My serum Vitamin D level was 8. My doctor wanted to begin treatment immediately which included an extremely high dose of Vitamin D. I had been taking a calcium supplement the last few years, but apparently, it didn’t contain enough Vitamin D. I began a once-a-week dose of 50,000 IU of Vitamin D for 8 weeks. I realized the importance of taking vitamins. I knew I should’ve listened to my friend sooner. She was always telling me about how important they were, and she was constantly ordering them from places like Pharmacy Online – www.pharmacyonline.com.au so she didn’t have the opportunity to run out. She is the type of person who always likes to think ahead, and it definitely worked in her favor this time. I just wish I had listened sooner.

Tips For A Guilt-free Bridal Party

Hosting a small party for your bridesmaids and other bridal party members right after you’ve tried on your wedding dress (that I ordered roughly 18 months ago) is rarely a good idea. My wedding is about 12 weeks away; it’s going to take carrot sticks, water, and many miles on my bike to ensure that my dress fits properly.  I’m going to have to give up my cupcakes, but I could never give up my coffee. I decided I would try to to host a guilt-free bridal party with the help of Dunkin’ Donuts Vanilla Cupcake Flavored Coffee. I know I’m not the only person in my bridal party stressed over whether her dress will fit properly, so I tried to give everyone a few options. Here are a few tips for a guilt-free bridal party.

Vicks VapoRub

“This post was sponsored by Vicks VapoRub as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.”

The last time my son got sick, we were on a weekend getaway with my grandmother. It came on quick. We had spent the day at a theme park and had dinner, and Gabe didn’t have any complaints early in the day. My grandmother casually mentioned that Gabe’s hands felt warm. Gabe went to bed with her, and woke up in the middle of the night with a cough, runny nose, and nasty fever. It was a short trip and I hadn’t packed any kind of medication. The hotel didn’t have anything other than adult strength acetaminophen and ibuprofen. We had to make a 3:30am run to the nearest 24 hour pharmacy to find him some medicine. I purchased children’s strength acetaminophen and ibuprofen, along with Vicks VapoRub; I find Vicks VapoRub very soothing and it evokes comforting memories from my own childhood.
