Skillet Texas Sheet Cake recipe

One of my favorite desserts as a child was a Texas Sheet Cake made by a close family friend. She would make it for every church pot luck, and it was my go to dessert. I really regret not getting her recipe, because I’ve tried dozens of version trying to figure out a recipe close to the one she made. It’s a really great recipe for

pot luck dinners or family gatherings because a typical Texas Sheet Cake will feed a crowd. I created this Skillet Texas Sheet Cake recipe to feed a family, because a whole sheet cake is too much for us. I also put a layer of pecans between the cake and frosting, because I firmly believe most desserts can be made better with pecans and ice cream.

Do you know what a “walking taco is? They’ve been all the craze the last year or so. You basically take tacos ingredients combined in a bag of crushed corn chips and a fork to create a “taco” that you can walk and eat. I always thought that could be a fun and quick party snack if you used the right ingredients. I’m setting up a Halloween themed end of season party for the soccer team that I coach, and decided to put my idea to the test. I used the new glow-in-the-dark 2-pack OREOs, Nabisco Spooky Edition Classic Mix, and a few fun ingredients that I paired with Fanta Orange Soda; it was a party spread that I prepped and had on the table in under 15 minutes.

I have a love for vanilla bean flavored anything. My personal favorite is vanilla bean ice cream. While shopping at my local Walmart, I stumbled upon the new Müller’s® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt. I couldn’t help but grab at least one of every variety, but I grabbed several of the vanilla bean flavor. I knew I wanted to make something with the yogurt, and I wanted my creation to retain the yogurt’s flavor. I recalled my great-grandmother making an icebox pie. I had never attempted to make one, but I remembered they weren’t too complex. I think my great-grandmother would be proud of my Vanilla Bean Icebox Pie. It wasn’t too shabby for a first attempt. I opted for a chocolate ganache that I garnished with almonds.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Mousse

Influenster sent me a VoxBox with Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread in it. Gabe loves just about all forms of nut butters and spreads, and his favorite chocolate snack is probably a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. I saw recipes on Pinterest for a chocolate nut spread type mousse. I decided that I wanted to create a similar dessert for Gabe, but with the Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread.
