Are you expecting company during the holiday season? It’s fun to spend time with friends and family, and we enjoy regularly hosting my family from out of town. Today I’m sharing a few easy ways that you can quickly get your home ready for guests and how to make your home more inviting during the holidays. Sometimes, these ways to make your home more inviting are bigger than expected. One year, our roof was actually in need of a repair and I knew it needed fixing before any visitors came to stay, especially during the colder and slightly damper months. After looking for recommendations, some that suggested I head to Florida Southern Roofing, some that suggested using the most local company to me… the list was endless. But once we had it sorted, I felt much more comfortable about having guests to stay in a house that wasn’t under a damaged roof.

Gift shopping can either be really easy or really difficult. There are always some friends and family that you have trouble shopping for. Sometimes it’s as simple as taking a theme they like and running for it. For example, a dog lover may like something like this silver whippet pendant, or something for their pooch as well. However I still have a few people on my shopping list that I really struggle to find the perfect holiday gift. One of those people is my husband. I know lots of things about him but a lot of those ideas I once had have run dry. However, after looking at some reviews on websites like Wristcritic, I think I might actually know what to buy him this year. For the people you may want to spend less on, gift buying can be a little more difficult. That’s why I’ve created this post! Today I’m sharing a few ideas to help you find a great holiday gift for the pickiest people on your list; here’s a simple guide to the odds & ends of holiday giving and entertaining.

When I was growing up, I spent nearly every Sunday either at my grandparents’ or great grandparents’ houses. I played with my cousins and we ate dinner together. Sadly, I feel like families don’t visit each other like they use to, or at least my family doesn’t. We seem to only visit during holidays, birthdays (if it’s a big one), weddings, and, unfortunately, funerals. When was the last time you had dinner or visited with your extended family? We spent some time with my husband’s family last week; his grandmother unexpectedly passed away. While everyone certainly grieved her passing, it was nice to catch up with many of them again. My husband got to spend time with his beloved great uncle and he got to meet our daughter for the first time. When everything was over and everyone went home, I just wanted to sit with my husband and relax. There are only a few things that I find more soothing than a nice cup of coffee and a bite of chocolate. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite coffee and chocolate pairings, Starbucks® Holiday Blend Coffee and Lindt Lindor Chocolate Truffles. This Spiced Chocolate Truffle Muffin recipe is lightly sweet with a burst of chocolate in the center. spiced chocolate truffle muffins Continue reading Spiced Chocolate Truffle Muffin: Entertaining Guests

My mom was a nurse and had four children to feed; we ate the same recipes over and over, probably because she was busy and she was feeding 6 people. I get bored with recipes easily, and I’m sure that’s the reason why. I rarely make the same thing more than once in a month; I also think that’s why my son isn’t a picky eater. I really enjoy making Tyson® Premium Cornish Hens. I created this Honey Orange Cornish Hens recipe to spice up our monthly meal plan. They’re relatively easy to make, and they look so fancy! did I mention they’re tasty too?

I really enjoy throwing holiday parties; currently I’m in the midst of planning a Make and Take party for my son’s kindergarten class. Many people find throwing holiday parties stressful, but I generally follow a simple plan to make cooking, set up, and clean up as easy as possible. I want to maximize my time with guests, and not spend the entire party dreading cleanup. Here’s my collection of easy holiday entertaining tips, and my favorite recipe for a seasonal sweet and spicy chili.

I was sponsored to write this post on behalf of Weight Watchers®

It can be a struggle to lose or maintain your weight during the holidays. The Weight Watchers® program is popular because it has options for both prepackaged meals, snacks, and desserts, and an online points calculator that allows you to calculate points in regular recipes. Today I’m sharing a recipe using some of the Weight Watchers products, and some Weight Watchers friendly holiday entertaining ideas. I’ve also included a free printable that can be used to display Weight Watchers points, label the appetizer or dessert, or even as place cards for guests. I want to help you spend less time fussing over party planning, and more time enjoying your guests.
